RULES

What is enforced automatically

11-hour driving limit

Maximum driving time after 10 consecutive hours off duty.

14-hour duty window

Driving must end 14 hours after coming on duty, breaks included.

30-minute break

Required after 8 cumulative hours of driving without a 30-minute interruption.

10-hour reset

Ten consecutive hours off duty restarts the 11 and 14 hour clocks.

EXAMPLE

Dallas → Atlanta

  1. Depart Dallas — 11:00 drive time available
  2. Drive 5 h — stop at a live truck stop on I-20
  3. 30-minute break taken at that stop
  4. Drive 3 h — second live truck stop on the route
  5. Drive time exhausted before Atlanta — overnight stop placed here
  6. 10-hour reset, resume with a full 11-hour clock
  7. Arrive Atlanta
